On the eve of National Epilepsy Day 2022, Dr.P.Vijaya Sr. Neurologist, HOD Dept of Neurosciences conducted Epilepsy awareness program on 17th November 2022 for the fits patients, parents and general public in the Hospital premises. Neurosurgeon Dr.N.Srinivasa rao and Neurologist Dr. B.Usha Kiran participated in this event .
Under the guidance of Neuroscientists Association Guntur, Dr.P.Vijaya held Awareness program for School children, teachers and Staff members at Government Urdu high school, Guntur. Dr.N.Sinivasa rao Senior Neurosurgeon, Neurologists Dr.B.Usha Kiran and Dr.P.Naren also participated and explained about What is epilepsy, First aid, Do’s and Don’ts , Myths and Facts and treatment. Followed by Interactive session with students and teachers.
On the same day evening, Neurosientists Association Guntur conducted an Epilepsy Awareness program by the prominent Neurologists and Neurosurgeons - Guntur in coordination with Prajaarogya Vedika, Guntur.
On the eve of World Stroke Day 2022, Dr.P.Vijaya Sr.Neurologist, EC Member – ISA, Vice President – AP Neuroscientists association conducted Stroke Awareness week programsfrom (23.10.2022 to 29.10.2022) to spread awareness on stroke.
On 23.10.2022: As a part of Stroke Awareness Week, held a Free Brain Stroke Medical Camp and Public Awareness program in Chilakaluripeta on 23.10.2022 Sunday with the cooperation of Honourable Health Minister Smt. Vidadala Rajini garu. In this camp, more than 300 people have been seen and given medicines freely. we have seen general population with high risk of getting stroke like history of hypertension, Diabetes, Family history of stroke or heart diseases and advise them about preventive measures. People who got stroke already are advised the medical treatment as well as physiotherapy and dietary advice. Dr Vijaya Presented PowerPoint presentation on the various details of stroke for public awareness. Explained about the Brain Stroke (Paralysis), Types of Stroke, Risk factors, Recognition of stroke by BEFAST test, Treatments and Stroke Prevention tips.
24.10.2022, CME has been conducted in the Lalitha Hospital Conference hall on “Management of Acute Stroke” by Dr.P.Vijaya. Lalitha Hospital Neurology Team - Neurologists, Neurosurgeons, ER Physicians, General Physicians, radiologists, PG resident doctors from Neurology, General medicine and Radiology department, Stroke Nurses, Physiotherapists, Dietician attended the CME meeting. Explained about the advanced treatments of Acute stroke like Intravenous thrombolysis with clot busting drugs who came within 4 ½ hrs, endovascular therapies (Mechanical thrombectomy, Intraarterial thrombolysis, Penumbra aspiration) who came within 24 hrs, Neurosurgery for Massive strokes or Brain haemorrhage cases, carotid angioplasty and stenting, Stroke unit care.
25.10.2022 TO 29.10.2022: Free Stroke Screening Desk at Lalitha Hospital premises for general public. In this Free Stroke screening desk, Free BP check up, Blood sugar test, BMI calculation, Stroke risk score assessment done and those who are at high risk for stroke, free neurology consultation along with counselling, physiotherapy and dietary advice given. More than 500 people general public screened in this free desk.
On the eve of World Stroke Day 2021, Dr.P.Vijaya Chief Neurologist Director Ankineedu Stroke Centre, EC Member Indian Stroke Association conducted several awareness programs. ISA declared October as Stroke awareness month.
In collaboration with Indian Red Cross society, Guntur, Rotaly Club and Other NGO’s performed month long activities on Stroke awareness.
On October 1st – In collaboration with Indian Red Cross Society Launched the Stroke Awareness Month campaign by the honourable Joint Collector of Guntur Ms Raja Kumarigaru.
Conducted Stroke awareness programs to the college students through PPT presentation and explained about recognition of Stroke. FAST test, Risk factors of stroke, treatment and prevention of stroke. In this activity various engineering college students, Pharmacy college students participated and enrolled as stroke volunteers to spread awareness about stroke, FAST test.
In collaboration with Indian red cross society & IMA Guntur on Oct 29th World Stroke Day we have conducted Mega project Free BP checkup at more than 100 centres all over Guntur. Formerly launched by Joint collector Dinesh garu and taken up by many hospitals including Neurospecialists, Corporate Hospitals, IMA doctors, Government Doctors association doctors, Medical shops, Diagnostic labs, Women Doctors wing doctors and many NGO’s , Walkers club, social places like Temples, Mosques, public places like Bus stand, Railway station, Parks, Collectorate and slum areas etc participated enthusiastically in this good cause initiative.
More than 900 volunteers participated in this social service esp. Red cross society volunteers, Pharmacy students, Nursing college students, Medical representatives. More than 10,000 people were screened, 40% of the people are not having optimal control and 10% of the people have undetected hypertension.
Worldwide every year October 29th is observed as “World Stroke Day” spearheaded by theWorld Stroke Organization with ongoing campaigns to raise awareness about key issues in stroke prevention, treatment and recovery said by Dr.P.VIJAYA Stroke Neurologist, Ankineedu stroke centre, Lalitha Hospital Guntur. Step 4 Keep it going! On the eve of World Stroke Day Lalitha Hospital, Guntur is conducting awareness campaign for General public, patients and care givers in the hospital premises as well as through social media. 1) First is to start dance chain as part of global event. 2) Educating public about risk factors of stroke, encourage use of online app Riskometer to assess individual risk. 3) Free counseling by Physician, Dietician, Rehab teamto prevent stroke and to get back normalcy after stroke.
STROKE or Brain attack happens when clot blocks the blood supply to the brain or when a blood vessel in the brain bursts causing death or significant disability. A stroke can happen to anyone, at anytime and anywhere. Today stroke is the leading cause of disability worldwide and second leading cause of death, but almost all strokes could be prevented. This year 15 million people will have a stroke, 5.5 million people will die as a result. 80 million people have survived stroke worldwide.
A simple test to detect stroke symptoms is used worldwide called FAST
Atleast8 out of 10 strokes can be prevented if they follow these 8 steps.

Pamphlets were distributed, Posters displayed, Interviews given to media.
Oct 26th – Stroke Awareness program was conducted by Dr. Vijaya for Pensioners and Senior citizens at Pensioners Home, Taluka Office, Guntur. Explained the Risk Factors, Stroke symptoms and Prevention of stroke through PPT presentation. Program was followed by Free Stroke Medical Camp includes consultation, ECG, Blood sugars, Medicines, Physiotherapy and dietary advices. About 200 Senior citizens were participated.
Oct 27th – Free Stroke Medical Camp conducted for general public at Lalitha Super Specialities Hospital premises from 9Am to 5Pm. This includes Free neurology consultation, Free Investigations like ECG, ECHO, Blood sugars and CT brain ) Medicines, Physiotherapy, Dietary and life style advices.
Oct 28th – Training given by Dr.P.Vijaya on “Stroke alert” for Para Medical Staff.
On 29th - Stroke awareness program was held at Lalitha Super Specialities Hospital premises with patients, care givers and general public with distribution of pamphlets and PPT presentation on “Life after Stroke”. Followed by interactive session several patients shared their experience about their stroke and encouraged people to adapt preventive measures and healthy life style. All the stroke patients had given free consultation and advice regarding secondary prophylaxis, physiotherapy and life style modification. All the faculty members and Junior doctors wore stroke wrist band took oath to fight stroke.

Where students from Medical, Pharmacy, B.Ed Colleges, BSc Nursing colleges and Medical Rep’s Association participated actively and heard PPT presentation and important aspects of stroke. About 500 people registered themselves as “Stroke Volunteers” and pledged to spread stroke information by wearing badges.
Oct 28th - Interview was given to the Press and Electronic Media by Dr.P.Vijaya. “One in Six” slogan explained. The risk factors, preventive aspects were stressed and stroke symptoms recognition was detailed including FAST test. The interview was relayed in all TV channels and given wide publicity in Telugu and English news papers. Unique Stroke smart card was released on behalf of media by Stroke patient. This Smart Card will provide 24 hrs stroke help line, free ambulance services within Guntur city as part of the clinical services. On 29th stroke awareness program was held at Lalitha Super Specialities Hospital premises with patients, care givers and general public with distribution of pamphlets and PPT presentation and gave the message that “Just to control Hypertension will stop half of the strokes”. In interactive session several patients shared their experience about their stroke and encouraged people to adapt preventive measures and healthy life style. All the stroke patients had given free consultation and advice regarding secondary prophylaxis, physiotherapy and life style modification.
On same day evening, a live interaction program on Stroke by Dr.P.Vijaya for 1hour involving questions and answers on Siti Cable (Local Cable network covering the Guntur District).
Oct 30th - Free Stroke Medical Camp conducted at Lalitha Hospital premises. This included Free Neurology consultation, Free Investigations including CT brain, ECG, Blood sugar etc., Free Medicines, Physiotherapy, Dietician and life style advices to prevent stroke.

Oct 26th – 29th free stroke risk screening desk is maintained in the premises of Lalitha Super Specialities Hospital from 9AM to 5PM. About 1000 people were screened with risk charts and advised about prevention.
On Oct’ 27th A Unique concept of “Stroke volunteer Network” program was inaugurated in collaboration with the “Indian Red Cross Society” , Guntur District Branch where students from Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, B.Ed Colleges, BSc Nursing colleges and Medical Rep’s Association participated actively and heard PPT presentation and important aspects of stroke. About 500 people registered themselves as “Stroke Volunteers” and pledged to spread stroke information by wearing badges and distributing Pocket cards for the next 3 days. It is also planned to build up stroke volunteer data bank with regular SMS alerts and for conduct meetings and continue the campaign through out the year.
On Oct’ 28th meeting was held with executive body and members of The Guntur district Retired Officials Association. Talk on stroke awareness was given by Dr.P.Vijaya followed by Interactive session. A free screening camp is also done including BP, blood sugar and ECG test. Stroke risk score was calculated and advise accordingly. A total of 300 senior citizens were screened and 150 people were enrolled in the Stroke Volunteer Network.
On World Stroke Day - Oct’ 29th stroke awareness program was held at Lalitha Super Specialities Hospital premises with patients, care givers and general public with distribution of pamphlets and PPT presentation and gave the message that “Just to control Hypertension will stop half of the strokes”. In interactive session where 300 people participated, several patients shared their experiences about their stroke and encouraged people to adapt preventive measures and healthy life style. All the stroke patients had given free consultation and advice regarding secondary prophylaxis, physiotherapy and life style modification. Free BP check up for general public was done to detect the silent hypertension. Patient with cardiac condition IHD and Valvular Heart diseases were screened free and ECG will take to detect Atrial Fibrillation.
On same day evening, a live interaction program was telecast in the Siti Cable TV network by Dr.P.Vijaya on Stroke for 1 hour involving questions and answers. The target audience included more than 5 lakh people and it was a huge success. Stroke awareness program was also held at Temple and at LIC office with general public, NGO’s, LIC employees, Medical representatives with distribution of pamphlets and PPT presentation.
In addition, Ankineedu stroke center do every day patient education to the OPD patients and those admitted with stroke and their first degree relatives and care takers. Monthly SMS alerts about stroke prevention sent via to the stroke volunteers to their contacts.
