Dr. P.V.RAGHAVA SARMA M.D., D.M., (Cardiology) and Dr. P.Vijaya, M.D., D.M., (Neurology) completed their training at PGIMER Chandigarh, the premier institute in the country, in the year 1990. Instead of choosing the western world with advanced infrastructure, they decided to bring their knowledge and services to their native city of Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, with a dream to improve healthcare accessibility and quality.

- The Department of Cardiology was founded by Dr. Raghava Sharma, MD, DM, who established the first super-specialty cardiology centre in Guntur within a private setup in 1990. It has now grown into a leading centre providing comprehensive cardiovascular solutions and has developed into a comprehensive centre of excellence with all the superspecialties.
- The centre is nationally recognized and has performed the maximum number of angiogram procedures (1.5 lakh) and the highest number of coronary angioplasties.
- It pioneered electrophysiology treatments (pacemakers and advanced dual-chamber pacemakers) and non-invasive device closures for pediatric cardiology patients.
- The centre started the first exclusive PVD clinic and advanced cardiovascular solutions under the leadership of Dr. Anurag, who was trained in the UK and USA, and was also honored with the Times Business Award for Excellence in Cardiology.
- Cerebrovascular interventions were initiated in the year 2005, with a record number of cases from a single centre.
- Cardiothoracic surgical services were started in the year 2001 and have completed ----- number of surgeries, receiving awards for excellent performance.
- The first Neurology Centre in Guntur District was started by Dr. P. Vijaya, MD, DM (Neurology), as part of the Heart & Brain Centre.
- The first Stroke Unit of undivided Andhra Pradesh and the second in India was started in the year 1996. Later, it was developed into a comprehensive, state-of-the-art “Advanced Ankineedu Stroke Centre” with 24/7 in-house CT scan, MRI scan, a dedicated Neuro Cath Lab, and a Stroke Action Team. The unit holds the record as the first accredited stroke centre in entire India.
- The Stroke Centre pioneered IV thrombolysis, intra-arterial thrombolysis, endovascular interventions, and stroke research.
- The Neurology Department of Lalitha Hospitals started the first Botox therapy, the first Sleep Lab and Sleep Clinic, Headache Clinic, Epilepsy Clinic, and Stroke and TIA Clinic, managing all types of neurological disorders.
